Temponok is a Parisian Graffiti Artist. He produced his first murals in 1999 in the southern suburbs of Paris.

His name finds its origin in the shortcut of the term "temporality" attached to the acronym "N.O.K", the collective of artists with which he evolves on the graffiti scene since 2001 and with which he explores for more than 15 years the different facets of this art.

In 2006, during a trip to Japan, he was invited to paint by the Tokyo artists Imaone, Tengaone and Ndec.

From this encounter with Japanese culture, a fresco was born, south of Tokyo, in a place called the Ghost Tunnel. Then using a local brand of spray paint with little coverage and for domestic use, he plays with diluted colors to create his first partly transparent work. Voluptuous in the forms and airy in the features, from there his style was born.

Thereafter, he refines his work, always bringing more technical mastery and dreamlike with influences at the antipodes of graffiti. In particular the still life painter, Sebastien Stoskopf, the contemporary artist Dokoupil, the designers Verhoeven twins or the artist Emmanuelle Etienne from La Verrerie. The soap bubble, and transparency in general, are now his graphic signature, light and delicate, through which he transmits strong emotions.

His favorite subject, the Memento Mori (remember that you are going to die), is a pictorial genre that pays homage to life, and not an idolatry of death. He tends to capture the beauty of a moment, however short it may be on the scale of the universe. And to mark his achievements in space and time, he integrates the surrounding landscape through his play of reflections with the subtlety borrowed from a Van Eyck.

Today, in parallel with upcoming collective and personal exhibitions, he is redefining his notion of urban art through a large-scale personal project, the StreetLife Session project...

Temponok est un Graffiti Artiste Parisien. Il réalise ses premières peintures murales en 1999 dans la banlieue sud de Paris.

Son nom trouve son origine dans le raccourci du terme « temporalité » accolé à l’acronyme « N.O.K », le collectif d’artistes avec lequel il évolue sur la scène graffiti depuis 2001 et avec lequel il explore depuis plus de 15 ans les différentes facettes de cet art. En 2006, au court d’un voyage, au Japon, il est invité à peindre par les artistes tokyoïtes Imaone, et Ndec.

De cette rencontre avec la culture japonaise, naitra une fresque, au sud de Tokyo, dans un lieu appelé le Ghost Tunnel. Utilisant alors une marque locale de bombe de peinture peu couvrante et à usage domestique, il joue des couleurs diluées pour réaliser sa première œuvre en partie transparente. Voluptueux dans les formes et aérien dans les traits, de là son style né. Par la suite, il affine son travail, y apportant toujours plus de maitrise technique et d’onirisme avec des influences aux antipodes du graffiti. Notamment le peintre de nature morte, Sebastien Stoskopf, l’artiste contemporain Dokoupil, les designers Verhoeven twins ou encore l’artiste Emmanuelle Etienne issue de la Verrerie. La bulle de savon, et la transparence en général, sont désormais sa signature graphique, légère et délicate, par le biais de laquelle, il transmet des émotions fortes. Son sujet de prédilection, le Memento Mori (souviens toi que tu vas mourir), est un genre pictural qui rend hommage à la vie, et non pas une idolâtrie de la mort. Il tend à saisir la beauté d’un instant si court soit-il à l’échelle de l’univers. Et pour marquer ses réalisations dans l’espace et le temps, il intègre le paysage environnant à travers ses jeux de reflets avec la subtilité empruntée d’un Van Eyck.
